What is the DASH diet? Is this something for Olympic Track and Field athletes? You'll be hearing more about this type of nutrition this year. DASH is the acryonym for the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, (DASH). This is a nutritional approach that has been proven to lower high blood pressure in just 14 days!
The DASH diet is based on an eating plan rich in fruits and vegetables, and low-fat or non-fat dairy. The DASH diet was studied as early as 1976 when 88,500 nurses were followed for 24 years and had their diets assessed according to DASH. Those who had followed the DASH diet had a 24% reduced risk for coronary heart disease, an 18% reduction in stroke related incidents and reduced blood pressure.
Who recommends DASH:
*The National Institutes of Health *The American Heart Association *The 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans *US guidelines for treatment of high blood pressure and, the DASH diet formed the basis for the new USDA MyPyramid,

Pro-Life Speaker Geri Urrutia Saturday, August 23, at 7pm Holy Innocents Church (20th Street and Pasadena) 425 East 20th Street Long Beach, CA 90806
Geri Urrutia directs the pro-life organization, Shield of Roses. For over 20 years, she has been on the front lines in defending women and their babies from abortion. No one walks away from this presentation unchanged. All are welcome.
FOUR-THOUSAND AMERICAN SOLIDERS have died since the beginning of the war in Iraq. FOUR-THOUSAND LITTLE BOYS AND LITTLE GIRLS are murdered IN ONE SINGLE DAY in a war here at home. What war? The war in the womb. The war against the unborn.
We are in an election year in which crucial decisions will be made about the future of our nation. Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta once said: "Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion."
Why is there so much violence in our neighborhoods and among nations? Ask the saint and she will tell you: abortion. It is the "greatest destroyer of love and peace."
With the November election fewer than 100 days away, voters are rightfully concerned about many issues. But the issue that trumps all others is the relentless murder of innocent children in the womb by abortion. How you vote on election day will determine whether the war against the unborn will continue unabated or will end. Undoubtedly, the next President of the United States will be in a position to nominate new justices to the Supreme Court. Given that opportunity, both of the major presidential candidates have made it clear what kind of justices they would appoint. It is no exaggeration to say that depending on who the next President will be, the blood of tens of millions more unborn children will continue to flow or the bloodshed will come to an end. That is how absolutely pivotal is this upcoming election.
Please help spread the word and invite your family, friends, and all the people you know who might be interested! Thank you and God bless!
Note: Please plan to come early due to the limited parking spaces in the church's parking lot.

August 20, 2008 Being Clear About Desires Getting What We Want
The best way to get what we want from life is to first know what we want. If we haven't taken the time to really understand and identify what would truly make us happy, we won't be able to ask for it from those around us or from the universe. We may not even be able to recognize it once it arrives. Once we are clear about what we want, we can communicate it to those around us. When we can be honest about who we are and what we want, there is no need to demand, be rude or aggressive, or manipulate others that are involved in helping us get what we want. Instead, we know that we are transmitting a signal on the right frequency to bring all that we desire into our experience.
As the world evolves, humanity is learning to work from the heart. We may have been taught that the way to get what we want is to follow certain rules, play particular games, or even engage in acts that use less than our highest integrity. The only rules we need to apply are those of intention and connection. In terms of energy, we can see that it takes a lot of energy to keep up a false front or act in a way that is counter to our true nature, but much less energy is expended when we can just be and enjoy connections that energize us in return. Then our energy can be directed toward living the life we want right now.
Society has certain expectations of behavior and the roles each of us should play, but as spiritual beings we are not bound by these superficial structures unless we choose to accept them. Instead, we can listen to our hearts and follow what we know to be true and meaningful for us. In doing so, we will find others who have chosen the same path. It can be easy to get caught up in following goals that appear to be what we want, but when we pursue the underlying value, we are certain to stay on our right path and continue to feed our soul.
It is in peace only that our women and children can enjoy happiness, and increase in numbers. CHIEF JOHN ROSS, CHEROKEE, 1790-1866
On This Date in Native American History
August 20, 1994: Miracle, the first white female buffalo calf in over a century, was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, to non-Native ranchers. The birth of a white buffalo calf was prophesied by Native people generations ago, and she is seen as a sign of tribal unity and peace by believers all across the country. Thousands pilgrimage to see her, and Miracle received worldwide media attention.
Elder's Meditation of the Day
"...remember and think about the closeness of Wanka-Tanka. If they live in this wisdom, it will give them endless strength and hope." --Fools Crow, LAKOTA The value of staying close to the Creator is the immediate help we have available to us whenever we need it. I can listen to the whisper of my heart for this is the place He communicates with me. Staying close helps me remember that we are here to serve Him and to help other people. The Grandfathers are my direct access to wisdom. He who has wisdom has everything. If we have wisdom, then we will see our lives become more effective in the areas of jobs, relationships, family, friends and finances.
My Creator, today grant me the wisdom to seek Your wisdom. Help me to Walk of the Red Road.
A Cherokee Feast Of Days
Chief Luther Standing Bear said his Lakota people loved to worship. Contact with the Spirit was immediate and personal, and blessings flowed over them like rain showered from the sky. Can worship really produce such blessings? Indeed, yes. Indian people were born to believe this. To the Indian, Spirit is not aloof, not a figment of the imagination, but real life and real power. How sad that lukewarm attitudes silence those who do not want to be known as religious. It is not religious at all, but faith, Spirit, and something to rely on when life goes dry.
I was not lost. I knew where I was going all the time. SITTING BULL, SIOUX

THE LAW OF HONOR
The Law - Honor all things
To expect things or people to be different than they are is to dishonor them. You are simply attempting to transform them into your own image of what you think they should be, rather than honoring them as they are.
Only by fully accepting "what is" can you help transform anyone or anything into its higher expression. If you dishonor its present state - you set up a conflict situation. It must fight you to maintain its integrity. How can you lead anything that is fighting you? This does not mean you have to approve of the way a thing or person is or that you would like to emulate their condition in your own life. It simply means you are non-judgmental with regard to their present state of being.
Anything is what it is because that is the way it is - your thinking does not change that. If a person is a danger to himself or a danger to others, you may need to take protective measures. You do not blame a scorpion for stinging. That is the way it is. You should not, however, put yourself in harm's way. To take away the scorpion's stinger is to kill it.
People do what they do because that is the best way they know how to be, given their circumstances. You have to honor that choice. If you can think of a better way for them to live, you can always bring up the possibility. However, you must respect the sovereignty of their will. They have a right to live their life as they see fit unless it endangers the lives of other people. Then, protective measures must be taken.
Most of us like flowers better than weeds - however you must honor nature's beautiful design of bindweed or Canadian thistles. That does not mean you have to plant them in your garden.
The bottom line is - don't condemn - don't be judgmental - but always be helpful when anything wants to evolve into its higher state.

It seems like the WWE has switched things up by putting FNS on till 5 after the hour and now RAW is getting done at the top of the hour and I think that they switched it up a tad to change things up a little bit or something I don't know exactly why they did it that way but it's always good to change things up that's for sure it is definitely good business wise that's for sure.

There are a few stories in modern life that are such behemoths that everyone walks past them. This is one. Lean back and see if you can spot the top of the animal!
In a world of ever improving methods of communicating and increasingly universal access to education we have managed to construct, from fear and ignorance, a parallel global society, which is arguably the greatest single cause of evil in the world. At least two wars are being fought as I write to which it is a significant contributor, and more than 70% of crime is caused by it. Our society's disfunctional aspects are made infinitely worse by it.
The so-called war on drugs, now undertaken by most states around the world, far from eradicating the problem, has worsened it to a vast extent and handed control of a multi-billion dollar market to criminals of all descriptions. By criminalising drug use we have in effect guaranteed that our children and the vulnerable will be targets of criminals marketing drugs in ways that have proved to be impossible to monitor or control.
Why has this happened? Given the experience of Prohibition, which should have taught us for generations to come the pitfalls of criminalising human consumer activities, it is a question that screams for answer. Personally I prefer the cock-up, rather then the conspiracy view; 100 rich men may want ot take over world government or some deranged Pentagon redneck may be funding a war by criminalising drugs - or whatever- but it seems overall much more likely that fear and ignorance have fed on lurid stories over many years to put us where we are. We have collectively avoided the uncomfortable truth, which is that the child found dead in an alley died because we have gifted the control od drugs to criminals by prohibiting their legal use.
There is a deeply embedded public and institutional knee-jerk reaction that does not admit rational examination of the problem and makes proponence of such discussion toxic to anyone who relies on a readership or an electorate.
It is time for the end of Drug Prohibition to be properly considered and debated. As a private person I have little inhibition to saying this and I recognise that leaders of opinion will require courage to take it up. But take it up they must. Criminalise and live in fear. Legalise and control. That is the choice.

Dierks Bentley will host his third annual Miles & Music for Kids celebrity motorcycle ride and concert on Sunday, October 5th.
The event benefits Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
The hour-long ride will travel though beautiful Williamson County and historic downtown Nashville, ending at Riverfront Park with a jam session featuring Dierks, Tim McGraw and John Rich.
"This event has turned into one of the highlights of my year," said Bentley. "I can't think of a better way to spend an October day in Nashville than riding motorcycles in the afternoon and playing guitars and singing with some buddies at sundown. Everyone has been so supportive, and I'm really proud of the money we've been able to raise for Vanderbilt over the last few years."
